The Cheyenne Eye Clinic & Surgical Center is a practice with a team of highly qualified and experienced doctors and staff who provide comprehensive eye care services right in Cheyenne. From routine eye exams for contact lenses and glasses, to the management of complex eye diseases for which laser treatment or surgery may be needed.
We take pride in our staff and facilities and will do our very best to provide you with quality eye care and service. We welcome patients seeking routine eye exams and those with serious eye problems. We always welcome new patients and appreciate your referrals.
Our team of doctors, opticians, technicians and administrative staff are dedicated to providing you with the friendly, expert care you need and deserve.
In many ways, the history of the Cheyenne Eye Clinic is the history of Cheyenne. The first medical eye doctor came to Cheyenne in 1903. His name was George L. Strader, MD. Through the lineage of one doctor to the next, one partnership after another, Dr. Strader’s practice is still active today as Cheyenne Eye Clinic.
We are proud to be the inheritors of such a long legacy in our community and we look forward to adding to this history in the coming years.
For history buffs and interested patients alike, this history—written by our CFO Richard Ivey in 2010—details our story from the arrival of the first medical eye doctor in the town more than 100 years ago to our current practice. The project was a labor of love, with countless hours spent immersed in Cheyenne’s history at the Laramie County Library, Laramie County Court House and Wyoming State Archives.
To provide convenient and comprehensive services, our doctor team features ophthalmologists and an optometrist. Both are “eye doctors”, but what’s the difference? Ophthalmologists are licensed medical doctors (M.D. or D.O.) who focus on treating eye diseases and conditions and perform surgical procedures. Each of the ophthalmologists at Cheyenne Eye Clinic is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Optometrists hold a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and focus on performing eye exams, diagnosing eye diseases and sometimes prescribe medication for eye diseases. Dr. Hubbard and Dr. Bowman, our optometrists, are certified by the National Board of examiners in optometry.
With both types of doctors on staff, we make eye care easier than saying “ophthalmologist”. Instead of hopping from an optometrist’s office to an ophthalmologist’s office, patients are able to get everything they need under one roof with the convenience of local care at the Cheyenne Eye Clinic & Surgery Center.
