Do I need an ophthalmologist or an optometrist?
To provide convenient and comprehensive services, our doctor team features ophthalmologists and an optometrist. Both are “eye doctors”, but what’s the difference?
Ophthalmologists are licensed medical doctors (M.D. or D.O.) who focus on treating eye diseases and conditions, and perform surgical procedures. Each of the ophthalmologists at Cheyenne Eye Clinic is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Optometrists hold a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree and focus on performing eye exams, diagnosing eye diseases and sometimes prescribe medication for eye diseases. Dr. Hubbard, our optometrist, is certified by the American Board of Optometry.
With both types of doctors on staff, we make eye care easier than saying “ophthalmologist”. Instead of hopping from an optometrist’s office to an ophthalmologist’s office, patients are able to get everything they need under one roof with the convenience of local care at the Cheyenne Eye Clinic & Surgery Center.
